Classic, But Not Standard

Giving flowers as a gesture of thanks - very classic. But how about we don't always take the standard form and do it the standard way, but create art from the heart that is always colourful, always blooming, everlasting? As beautiful as the natural is, as real as can also be the unreal.

Just A Girl

I can be strong, I can be independent and I can be on my own.
but in the end, I am just an ordinary girl who also needs care and protection.

A new hobby I just started couple month ago and which I enjoy very much practicing on regular basis - darts. I love how it requires you to learn to have a calm mind and hand, to focus and to be consistent in order to hit exactly what you aim for and score high.

It's just like in real life, isn't it?

Heal the Heart

Lately, I like this song very much. It's very soothing and relaxing, as if a light and warm shower under the sunshine washes away your sorrows. If you feel stressful sometimes, take a break and let this song take you to a soothing and bright world.

Take the path least travelled

It takes courage and confidence. It has some risks but it often brings great rewards: the challenge of the new, the thrill of exploration, growth from learning and self-confidence from success.
I found this quote from a little motivational book called "Be Happy" that a friend gave me many years ago. The collection of wisdom and encouragement inside is simple, still very inspiring, especially for those who are drained from a monotonous and rather gloomy daily life and might have lost the direction.

Why did I go to Hong Kong? Wouldn't it be more comfortable to stay in Germany? I think the quote above serves as a good reminder and reassurance for the decisions I made back then.
We know what happens to people who stay in the middle of the road. They get run over.

The not-so-standard Christmas greeting!

It has been a while since I spent Christmas back home in Germany and I really miss it. I felt bad not being able to spend Christmas with family and close friends in Germany, and not being able to exchange Christmas gifts with them.

Therefore, when most people simply type in the in total 14-letter words shooting it in 3 seconds through our "oh-so-convenient" social media channels, I thought I should at least slightly go back to the basics when people still queued up at the post office with their bunch of handwritten Christmas cards ready to send off to the world.

Not even bothering to buy any standard Christmas cards this year, here is for you my little Christmas greeting artwork with every pencil stroke coming from the heart ;)

Best Bookstore in the World

Which looks at first like a result of Photoshop turns out to be a real renovation project - An ancient Dominican church renovated into a modern bookstore. In 2008, the Guardian called it the "best bookstore in the world".

"Dating back to the 13th century, the structure was a Dominican church until Maastricht was invaded by Napoleon in 1794 and the group was forced out of the country. Since that point it has been briefly used as a parish, then a warehouse, then an archive, then a giant parking lot for bicycles (not such a terrible idea) and finally made over into a bookstore."

I studied in Maastricht for 4 years and have never noticed how special this bookstore is. If you have the chance to visit Maastricht in the Netherlands, go experience the reading pleasure in this holy setting!
