Best Bookstore in the World

Which looks at first like a result of Photoshop turns out to be a real renovation project - An ancient Dominican church renovated into a modern bookstore. In 2008, the Guardian called it the "best bookstore in the world".

"Dating back to the 13th century, the structure was a Dominican church until Maastricht was invaded by Napoleon in 1794 and the group was forced out of the country. Since that point it has been briefly used as a parish, then a warehouse, then an archive, then a giant parking lot for bicycles (not such a terrible idea) and finally made over into a bookstore."

I studied in Maastricht for 4 years and have never noticed how special this bookstore is. If you have the chance to visit Maastricht in the Netherlands, go experience the reading pleasure in this holy setting!

Fireworks and Stars

Sometimes, it just takes a little bit of courage to turn the sweet little awkward sparkle into fireworks. And sometimes, this courage is just the little bit of impulsiveness that blows up all harmony and keeps you endlessly fiddling with heart and mind.

Fireworks suddenly popping up in the dark sky are naturally intoxicating as they sweep you away by the colourful excitement they promise to give. However, for that one moment of entertaining experience, you play with fire. While setting up and enjoying the magical spectacle high up in the sky, someone's already burned down there.

I rather look up to the stars, not as colourful but as bright and sparkling. No need to create them, no need to set them up, because they have always been there, holding up steadily their shining light on you. They might be a simple cold stone, but once you embrace them while looking up to the dark sky, you will feel warmth.

It's been a restless year in Hong Kong, in many aspects. I had my struggles, I had my fights, I have my memories and lessons learned, good and bad ones.

That was it with chapter one. No matter if it's a good or bad ending, thanks for the ending.
In chapter two, I'll make sure to shoot for the stars.
